Excessive Sweating Treatment

Sweating is an important bodily function that is performed to keep your body cool and prevent you from overheating. However, some people experience a condition called hyperhidrosis which is marked by an overactive sweat mechanism also known as excessive sweating. This excessive sweating can occur at any time, even when your body doesn’t need to cool off. This can be a source of embarrassment for many people. Fortunately, there are treatments that can help you get the relief you need if you suffer from hyperhidrosis.

Hyperhidrosis typically causes excessive sweating in your:

  • Underarms
  • Palms of your hands
  • Soles of your feet

Botulinum toxin injections work very well in most cases of hyperhidrosis. Injections are placed in the underarms to lessen excessive sweating. The injection discomfort in this region is very minimal. Cosmetic injections can also be administered in the hands and feet to reduce sweating in these areas.

Frequently asked questions

To prepare for anti-wrinkle injections in the armpits, ensure your underarms are shaved (for both men and women) and wear a dark, loose-fitting top to your appointment. Since the treated area needs exposure, we recommend a vest or sleeveless top. You can wear deodorant to the appointment, which will be removed before the injections.

Avoid tight clothing over the treated area and refrain from wearing white shirts or tops immediately after treatment, as marks from the procedure could stain clothing. Refrain from alcohol, aspirin, or ibuprofen 24 hours before and after treatment. Do not apply deodorant on the day of or up to 12 hours after treatment. Additionally, avoid hot baths or showers for 12 hours following the procedure.

Excessive sweating, known as hyperhidrosis, can be reduced by injecting muscle-relaxing injections into the armpits, which, like the hands and feet, tend to sweat more than other body parts.

These injections block the signals for perspiration at the sweat glands, thereby halting excessive sweating.

Improvement should be noticeable within approximately 7 days, although individual results may vary.

Typically, effects last around 5-6 months. When you observe the results wearing off, using products like Driclor or similar ones may help extend the outcome.

Using these injections to address hyperhidrosis is a safe, established procedure with minimal risk. Common side effects include temporary bruising and swelling at the injection site, which should subside within 48 hours.
